Laguna Environmental Center

The Laguna Environmental Center is a site where visitors can come to learn more about the Laguna de Santa Rosa, a Wetland of International Importance.

Location: Corner of Occidental Rd. and Sanford Rd.,900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa, CA 95401

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 101, take Hwy 12 West towards Sebastopol (Go 3.4 miles)
At the first streetlight, turn right on Fulton Road, then take the first left onto Occidental Road (Go 3.2 miles). Turn right on Sanford Road. Laguna Foundation driveway is first on the right.

Weekday Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, By Appointment only.
Please call ahead if you would like to view the art exhibit and gift shop, or visit us and take a self-guided tour around the native plant landscape, please call us ahead of your visit at (707) 527-9277, ext. 107.
The site and Heron Hall is wheelchair accessible. Please leave your pets at home. No dogs allowed and we do not allow animals to be left in vehicles, as shady parking spots are not available. Service animals welcome.

Outdoor Classroom
Pathways lead visitors through a series of interpretive signs that educate visitors about the natural and human history of the area. Landscaped with native plants the site includes beautiful views, spots to have a picnic, a living willow tunnel and children's playscape, a bridge over a swale, a pond planted with wetland plants, and an observation deck suitable for bird watching, photography, or just enjoying the quiet and the vistas.

Great Blue Heron Hall
The barn style building (pictured above) is designed to fit naturally into the site and its 140 year agricultural history. The building houses our Community Education Program as well as our education team volunteer trainings, Camp Tule, and various internal meetings. Field guides to the Laguna, watershed maps, Laguna Foundation ball caps and other items are for sale in the gift shop. There is also a rotating art exhibit showcasing local artists, proceeds benefiting the Laguna Foundation (see our Art Exhibits page). *Heron Hall is not currently available to rent by the general public.

Thanks go to the California Coastal Conservancy which has provided primary funding for this educational facility. Thanks also go to the City of Santa Rosa which agreed to partner with the Foundation by executing a generous long term lease on the property.
